Weekend Focus - Leather Megawoof

“BEEFCAKE BEATS”
LEATHER MEGAWOOF (“LEATHAWOOF”) – SATURDAY 4TH SEPT
WEEKEND FOCUS

If there is a club that quietly goes about its business continuing to attract a healthy crowd month after month, bridging the gap between the outright gAylist events that are the likes of Lovechild, Matinee & SuperMartXe with the more bear-tastic XXL, then it is Meagwoof, the inspiration of promoter Daz Saund, Diddy & co, At the time of its conception back in the days of Crash, the team behind this popular monthly outing saw the need to mix the muscle mary alley element with the bear & cub crowd to produce a unique blend of horny up for it hairy hedonists that were very much into the full on underground house sounds that the more mainstream gAylist clubs were serving up at the time, yet also pandering to needs the macho bear types penchant for the more commercially intended disco house that is very much the byword of capital beat brand leader XXL.

So Megawoof was born and has continued to bridge that all important gap in the market through times at Crash, then Colosseum, before finding its latest legs & home in Hidden across the other side of Vauxhall, the place that also sports fetish frolic Hard On!, as well as having graced a welcome to hard house outfit Hook’d, the Megawoof muscle-bound brawn mixing perfectly with the hairy beefy boys & plenty in between to superb effect, creating, as the team love to describe them, a following of “Hunks Who Funk” . Having dived in with both feet at events in Colosseum & Hidden, we can certainly vouch for the mix in the crowd, which for us works like a dream, as does the delightful blend of disco, tech, progressive & electro beats that the team of resident D.J.’s regularly turn out to exemplary effect, meaning the popularity of the club, despite the difficult times we are faced with, is as strong as ever.

And perhaps one of the team’s most popular party themes for Megawoof is the leather element introduction, this month seeing another instalment of this much loved macho cum fetish side to the brand. So, Leather Megawoof, or as we prefer to term it “Leathawoof” (do we get a prize Mr Daz?!?) hits Hidden running this Saturday (4th Sept), combining the tight black trouser crowd, with the chaps & jeans brigade, as well as plenty of harnesses, collars & cuffs for good measure, with those not quite so disposed who prefer the more regular garb (no strict dress code is enforced folks), with the regular fix of “beefcake beats” served up by the team of jocks that this time round include the crowd favourite & Italian stallion, Pagano, whom we are reliably informed will not be playing a five hour set, although will definitely be treating us to some “Digital Generation” tracks of his, not least we hope hits like “Drama On The Dancefloor”, “Loca” & “Back To The Future” (no Francesco set would be the same without!) and maybe even an airing of his latest studio work “Don’t Want Another Man” (no pressure Mr Pags). After his stunning showing at Onyx last weekend, this will very much be the highlight of the evening we think, so our top tip will be to hunt him down in the Black Room.

As the for rest, well Daz Saund, Tim Mcloone & Leonardo Glovibes will be playing it a bit more uplifting & commercial (their word not ours!) in the Red room, while the cooler cuts from Rob & Massimo in the Blue room, will mean that the booze & cruise atmosphere of this centre space will continue to be as popular as ever. However, with the full on tech & progressive beats of Pagano added to by Diddy over in the Black room, next door will be a brand new porn & cruise room set up, which we are told, will present a few extra special surprises & treats (whatever could they be?!?!), not to mention Hidden’s myriad of cruisy corridors to delight, on top of the extensive outside area where you can grab a breather from the macho & muscular music & hairy horny action inside. And if that wasn’t enough, keep your eyes peeled for the gorgeous hunks behind the bar, deployed especially for the night by the Megawoof team, not to mention a bunch of beefcake brawn looking after your podium bound eye candy attention.

As for the all important detail, a reminder that Leather Megawoof comes at you this Saturday (4th Sept) at Hidden in Vauxhall, doors opening on “Leathawoof” at 11 p.m, with the club running through until 6 a.m. Advanced ticket sales are available in a few ways, either in person at Soho outlets Prowler, Clone Zone & DV8, or online via direct link http://ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=gb_london&query=detail&event=406687&interface although these are all priced at £14. However, if you are a Megawoof member, then go to the official site, http://megawoof.com, to buy your £10 entrance, or failing all that, turn up on the door where a flyer will get you reduced entry at £13 before midnight. Plus make sure you check out with the door crew the special discount priced tickets to beyond afterwards, which makes for the perfect Megawoof after-party, especially as one Simon Patrick will be continuing his Hidden birthday celebrations on at Area.

So, if you are hot under the collar & craving for your own slice of Megawoof’s “Beefcake Beats” now, make sure Saturday at Hidden is a date, don your leathers or other hunky gear, get down to “Leathawoof” to fulfil your fantasy’s. (DISCO MATT)
