Weekend - 26th to 28th March

Hey Folks,

Despite all the flack we have come into from certain quarters, we are gingerly attempting to put best foot forward, looking ahead to the coming weekend to give you our pick of where to be and be seen. So, we focus on two events that get our big thumbs up and also take a look at three other best offerings & then whizz through the best of the rest.

First up is Lovechild, which returns to Fire in Vauxhall this Saturday (27th March) for its “A Spring Affair” outing after a slightly extended break and this looks like being a big one, even if it falls just before the massive Easter schedule of events. We covered the whole event in our usual extensive detail last week in a special “hot dates” post, but have some up-to-date news and confirmation on the D.J. line-up, the slightly slimmer list being headlined by Paul Heron, who will be joined by other Lovechild residents Mattias, Alessandro Londra, Phil Hewson, Craig Daniels & Saki, but with two exciting new additions to the team. Nick Tcherniak, who entertained us to a stunning set at Matinee “Circuit” last Saturday, not to mention have so on many occasions before that, whether it be at DTPM, Trade or at Barcode, brings an added dimension to the team with a vast amount of experience & a reputation for taking his audience on an impeccable journey, his mix of tech infused & progressive house yet with funky undertones, all mixed in with some hard hitting anthems that we are sure will go down a storm. Terry Vietheer, a product of down under who made a real name for himself across the Sydney scene playing at some of the city’s biggest nightclubs, hit the U.K. running, securing a residency at Pacha and was voted best newcomer by London’s dedicated clubbers, landing him a slot at iconic club Popcorn at Heaven, so will be worth searching out at “A Spring Affair”. So, with the music sorted, what else is on offer? Well apart from the usual ingredients of sexy dancers, raunchy & revealing displays, the return of the infamous contact room, hosted by Tony Bruno, will prove a hit once again, but the real excitement is the inclusion in the line up of P.A., Brazilian singer/songwriter/dancer Rodrigo Moratto, who will make a special public appearance with the song “Whatever, Whatever” from his upcoming album due to be released in the UK this summer. This single has been remixed by Messrs Per QX and Alan X exclusively for this Lovechild party, so will definitely be an element of the party not to be missed. Hosts Jerry & Naomi will be making sure everything runs smoothly on the door & throughout the night, which kicks off at 11 p.m., running through until 7 a.m. Tickets will be on sale on the door at £12 although are just £10 in advance, either online at http://clubtickets.com/ or at Soho outlets Prowler, Clone Zone, DV8 & Rio Beach or at boozers Barcode & The Box. And as a bonus, the first 100 paying guests through the door will receive free entry to the “official” afterhours party, Beyond Pervert (more on that in a min). More info on the event can be found at http://alexerfan.com/.

Our other focus goes to favourite afterhours party Beyond, which will be extra special this Sunday morning (28th March) at Area in Vauxhall, as it turns all perverted on us, combining forces with one of Italy’s most glamorous yet debaucherous & outrageous outings, where glamour mixed in with sex & seduction is the name of the game. Yes, Pervert returns to London after a massive & successful launch at their “Gold” party at Fire back in January and if that event is anything to go by, it should prove to be a dazzling, divine & decadent display of all things overt & audacious, as Pervert’s stage director Ivan Sala is planning some amazingly sexy & theatrical performances, while Chris Geary is working closely with the Area team on some of the best production, lighting & visuals yet seen in the club. We are promised a delightful mixture of muscular men & glamorous girls to adorn the various podiums across the whole club, as well as a special stage show, so there will be plenty to feast your eyes on. And as for the music, it will be simply top notch with three rooms of tremendous tunes, Beyond residents Mikey D, Steve Pitron & Alan K serving up their usual scintillating sounds that had not just us, but a packed main room absolutely pumping last weekend and is sure to do the same this. The rest of the spaces will be handed over to Pervert, with their resident D.J. Obi Baby headlining the team of deck meisters in the “Black” room, being joined by Gepy & Gonzalo, giving the line up a real latino feel, but the music a hard edged, tech & progressive feel, very akin to the Pervert style. Then in the Terrace bar Lovechild & Pervert residents take the space by storm and we know from speaking with them both when the announcement came through, we just how excited they are (we were too) to be playing at Beyond, Alessandro Londra making his debut at Area, while Brent Nicholls having been a Beyond resident in the days of Colloseum & D.J’ing at Area for their Ultra parties, makes a welcome return. Now, these duo have been renowned for playing off each other brilliantly at Matinee parties, particularly in the VIP room at Colloseum, so should be recreating some of that magic in the Terrace space and so a worthy reason for making more than just a fleeting visit. So, with magnificent music, prolific production, laser-tastic lighting, vivacious visuals & gorgeous go-go’s, Beyond Pervert looks like being a real success and will serve as the “official” afterhours party for Lovechild, where specially discounted tickets will be on sale, Advance £12 tickets are on sale at http://clubtickets.com/ or via Soho outlets Prowler, Clone Zone, DV8 & Rio Beach and/or The Box, Ku-Bar, & Barcode. The whole evening (or should we say morning!) will be hosted by Jerry Boston & Chrissy Darling, with the dream team that is Tom Fuller & Naomi Ruiz looking after a smooth running door entry, the club running from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m. this coming Sunday 28th March

Now, for our other best offering and Profile & Lo-Profile in Wardour Street seems to be hitting the sweet spot again this weekend, not least as they entertain on Friday with SuperMartXe’s “Viva Las Vegas” pre-party and if the “Samurai” pre-bash was anything to go by, this should be another superb evening’s entertainment with Logan’s schmitzels Mauricio & Lunarde decking out both venues in typical flamboyant style, with a bevy of beautiful beefcake go-go’s & glamorous girls mingling in Profile and tempting you in with seductive shows in the entrance window, then downstairs will be topping the makeshift podiums to delight the crowd. The musical entertainment is top notch too as resident & Gaydar’s own Phil Marriot will entertain upstairs in Profile, while downstairs in the club scene favourite Paul Heron takes to the decks to turn up the volume & turn out some tip top tunes, Paul playing out (among other places) Full House’s Easter weekend first leg “Queen of Clubs” and is followed by D.J. Aaron who is part of the line up at SuperMartXe’s main event on Easter Sunday. Saturday sees the Lo-Profile pace set Hugh Stevenson, followed by Alessandro, while upstairs in Profile SuperMartXe resident D’Johnny entertains. And don’t forget the bar’s fab 2 for 1 cocktail offer & a special lunchtime food deal, making it an ideal breather from that hectic shopping spree. Now, Profile is open daily from 11 a.m. till 11 p.m. (Sundays 10.30 p.m.) with D.J’s four times a week, http://profilesoho.com/ the source for more info, while Lo-Profile swings open its doors Fri’s & Sat’s from 10 p.m. till 4 a.m., entrance being £3 on Fri £5 on Sat before midnight & £8 thereafter, with more details at http://loprofile.com/.

Two other big shouts go firstly to Paradise 45, Guy Williams' new uber cool Friday nighter which returns to the Dalston Superstore in Shoreditch for another hip happening when Mr Williams is joined on the decks by fellow Manchunian Dave Kendrick who is very much a household name in his home town, having held residencies at both Hacienda & Paradise Factory alongside Guy, so the duo should be the perfect combination. Expect a trendy & up for it East End & cool Hoxton crowd mingling across two floors & jiving away to the future disco & cool tech style sounds that were a trademark of the first party , a taste of which can be found at http://soundcloud.com/guy-williams/temper-trap-sweet-disposition-cagedbaby-guy-williams-paradise-54-mix. Entrance to Paradise 45 is free with the club night running from 10 p.m. till 2.a.m. but we have been told to advise you to get there early as the last party was packed. Check their Facebook events page for more details. Then a big thumbs up goes to Later at Fire, which seems to be going through a real resurgence at the moment & is the perfect was to carry on your wild weekend following Lovechild & Beyond Pervert. Resident jocks Paul Martin & Terry Bryan who played two scintillating sets last week will return & the new guest spot was filled last week by D’Johnny who treated us to an equally storming set. As of going to press we haven’t been advised of this week’s guest, but will update you in our WR Extra Bites slot as soon as we know, but for sure Fire is going to rock again and the combo of great music & a sociable chill in the Later garden couldn’t be better. Doors open at 11 a.m., the club running through until 8 p.m., with entrance free to Beyond customers before 12.30 and £5 thereafter & for others.

Now, having been (wrongly) accused of being biased & unfair, to show that we are not, we have brought back our best of the rest listing, not least to open up your choice, so here goes. Friday first & the Soho action sees revamped Shadow Lounge hold another “Therapy” session, while award winner “The Cave” have another hunky session at Barcode Soho. It’s a “Discoliscious” night at the Village, while Lady Lloyd hosts another “Love Box” night at the Edge. And talking of boxes, The Box in Covent Garden is a really cool hangout on Fridays, with D.J. Minx spinning some superb sounds. Down in Vauxhall Barcode have another of their brilliant “Our House” sessions, Hi-Fi Sean taking care of proceedings while Severino is away, while “Tonker” gets all butch at The Eagle. The RVT host a new night called “Diva-Lution” teaming up with “The Kitten Club”, while Area sport another “Onyx” outing, the band of D.J. residents including Jamie Hammond who will be celebrating his Boyz bronze award in style, while the afterhours market just got really interesting with “A.M.’s” crown being challenged by new kid on the block “Booster” at Union, although we say there’s nothing better than choice. Out East and its seems the most happening place is Brick Lane, where The Brick House welcomes new club “Eat Your Heart Out” hosted by none other than Scotee while “Caligula” have another steamy session at the Bathhouse in Bishopsgate. Saturday Soho offerings include “Inferno” at Shadow Lounge, “Boudoir” at The Edge, “Fabulous” at Ku Klub & Alessandro on the D.J. decks at Rupert Street. Down in Vauxhall & Barcode have a sparkling D.J. line up that includes Steven Gellar, Paul Coals, D’Johnny & Steven Artis, while its another alternative night at The RVT with “Duckie” & the Eagle shun the chancellor with a “Budget Busting” Saturday, pints & sprits at just £2 before midnight. But if you fancy hauling out your fetish side then “Hard On!” is back for its monthly outing at Hidden, with residents Hi-Fi Sean, Brent Nicholls, Hugo’sland & Halo-Is spinning the sounds. Sunday and The RVT go it again with another “S.L.A.G.S/Chill-out” session, while The Eagle say nay nay to a boring night in with their “Horse Meat Disco” fun filled outing, while Barcode Vauxhall’s new “Rocking” T-dance seems to be reviving fortunes with a rotation of D.J.’s including Gonzalo, Paul Coals, Steve Artis, Alan X & Danny McDonald & was packed last week after Later. Orange at Fire rounds off the weekend and its pleasing to see it doing so well again, so if you’re thinking of pushing the boundaries into Monday morning, there’s no better place to do it. Check the popular press for more details of these.

Finally, don’t forget that http://seenqueen.com/ has an extensive listing of the hottest hangouts, including their own “gAylist” for Easter & beyond, plus much more so is well worth a look.

Right, that’s it from us for this week and we hope our choices have helped. However, following some really upsetting happenings in our world over the last few days, our plans are un-penned, but whatever you do, have a brilliant weekend and as we always say.....Go There! Be There!
