Weekend - 23rd - 25th Aoril

Hey Folks,

With the weekend looking like being dominated by the joining of forces between two of the scenes biggest names not just in the afterhours market, but clubbing in general, you will be forgiven for thinking that there is little else on offer to tempt out the faithful, although far from it.

Having devoted a special post to Beyond/Trade – “The Event” (see our preview section for full details) here we focus on two other parties that have grabbed our attention, as well as our look at the best of the rest in Soho, Vauxhall & beyond.

First up is uber fetish club Hard On!, which returns for its monthly outing this Saturday (24th April) serving up its usual blend of dominant dance music vs submissive yet sexy sounds, played out by the band of beefy, tough & talented D.J. residents, with plenty of horny happenings across three rooms for audacious action. The name of the game here is very much leather, rubber, uniform, combats, boots, harnesses, collars, chains, chaps and definitely boots, so no cute boys in jeans & trainers, but ardent followers of the fetish theme, some (well quite a lot really) dressing down to dare, braving to bare, footwear ranging from the meek & mild D.M. style boot to the full on wader and every sort in between, get the picture? So, Hard On! is not necessarily for the faint hearted, but moreover for those into a bit of fetish fantasy and not scared to throw away a few inhibitions for the night, as the infamous playroom will be in full swing and from personal experience will be heaped with hot & horny men who will have plenty in mind, so don’t expect a sociable chat, as it will be definitely less talking and more action, with the backdrop of sexy visuals to stimulate the thoughts. And talking of stimulation, in a chat with the clubs promoter, the fabulous Suzie Krueger, we are reliably informed that the usual saucy stage shows will be boosted by the inclusion of a porn star with eye popping proportions and not just his muscles but his man tool too. Now for those sexy sounds and the cruise bar, or now better known as the blue room, will be in the hands of Hugos’land, Halo-Is & Dmac, serving up a hardened house with a twist, while over in the main, red room, resident jocks, probably in jocks, Hifi Sean & Brent Nicholls, will be going a little more progressive, funky, and full-on, their sexy sounds aiming to compliment the hunky dancers on display as well as limber the loins. Add to all that the fabulous private heated outside terrace to use for some socialising splendour, or like us to cool off from the humping horseplay inside, as well as plenty of cum & cruise areas, and there is not better a party to well & truly tantalise your fetish teased tatstebuds. Hard On! is a members only club, but this is easy to organise, as you can either join online at http://hardonclub.co.uk/ or by visiting fetish stores RoB or Expectations, membership a mere £10 per annum. Entry to the club is then £15 for members who are entitled to bring two guests, the door charge for them being £20, but remember that there is a strict dresscode enforcement, so grab those leathers & boots and get yourselves down to Hidden this Saturday as Hard On! opens its doors from 10 p.m. running through till 5 a.m..

Our other focus goes to Booster, which starts a new chapter in its short history this coming Sunday (25th April) as it moves a hop, skip & jump (literally) across Vauxhall to its new home Area, with a new timing of 6 p.m. and with a new look D.J. line up of rotating residents. Whilst the club may not be a new concept, moving it to a new venue and a new day is a bold step for the organisers as Booster was originally launched as a Friday afterhours at Union in Vauxhall, at the time seemingly going head to head with the well established A.M. A superb launch night was followed by mixed fortunes and given the ferocious competition & the promoters desire to allow the brand to stretch its leg, has decided it was time for change, the promoter remarking on the move when the news hit “...now we have decided to both take advantage of the coming spring sunshine and move to a new venue on a new day & at a new time, taking a step up and move Booster to the clubbing `hot spot’ superclub Area...”. So, in moving the club to a Sunday night, the offering is set to add dimension to clubbing in Vauxhall, sitting neatly, as it will, between Fire’s Later & Orange and the aim is to make the most of Area’s “...Ibiza style terrace...” but with music still being central to the theme. So, with the reason for the change covered, what will the new look Booster offer? Well, Energie, the team behind Booster, promise a star spangled launch, making the most of Area’s Terrace space, but enticing you into both the Embankment Bar space & inside Terrace room, where Terry Bryan of Beyond, Later & Orange fame, as well as Salvation’s own Sharon O Love will be supplying the scintillating sounds, while down in the main room, the feel will be very different as D.J. Ferno, known for his performances at Egg as well as on Push FM, together with Ministry of Sound’s Miss Crazy D, will be taking you in a much deeper progressive house journey. But as a special addition for the launch party, the Booster promotions team have secured the services of non other than vocal pop diva legend Alex Party, who hit the high notes with her massive top 40 smash “Don’t Give Me Your Life” (a few years ago admittedly) but will no doubt rouse the audience with her repertoire of songs. And if that wasn’t enough the team will be offering plenty of drinks promotions as well as a free glass of wine to the first 200 through the door & if the forecast is anything to go by, the terrace at Area will be the place to be. Booster swings open its launching (well re-launching) doors from 6p.m., the club running till midnight, entrance being a mere £5 before 8 p.m. although with plenty of free entry offers to those at Later & special £3 entry to Beyond party goers. More general info on Booster can be found at http://groups.to/energielondon

Right, well what about the best of the rest? Well up in Soho Lo-Profile & Profile once again show the way, as the Logan Presents team takes over both venues on Friday for their Matinee La Leche pre-party. D.J.’s Alessandro & Nathan 6 will be spinning the sounds downstairs in Lo-Profile while Gaydar’s own Phil Marriot will be behind the decks in Profile and both spaces will be given the Matinee production treatment with the usual flamboyance of gorgeous dancers and we suspect plenty of Matinee give-aways. Then on Saturday Gonzalo & Hugh Stevenson take care of proceedings in Lo-Profile, while scene favourite Brent Nicholls treats you to some terrific tunes upstairs. Other offerings highlights in Soho include Friday nighter The Cave which returns for another huge party at Barcode, welcoming Megawoof residents Tim Mcloone to the decks, while Shadow Lounge open their doors to another Therapy session, also on Friday, when D.J. Minx selects the soothing sounds while Andrew Elmore masterminds the music their Inferno night on Saturday night. One other mention goes to the ever popular The Box, just over the border in Covent Garden, that will no doubt prove extremely popular this Friday with alfresco socialites, D.J. Minx spreading her musical magic.

Down in Vauxhall and there is plenty on offer, Barcode very much showing the way with great quality music in both the front dance bar spaces with a star studded D.J. line up right across the weekend, Friday including Steven Artis, & Saki, on the decks, the musical direction on Saturday being steered in the front bar by Mario & Steven Gellar, while the dance bar sees one of its strongest line up as Pagano, Hifi Sean & Gonzalo Rivas will no doubt serve up some scintillating sounds, while Sundays are proving to be very popular and we suspect that this Sunday will be no different, favourites Gonzalo Rivas & Steven Artis will be back to entertain. Other highlights include Onyx at Area on Friday followed by A.M. at Fire, while Union offer alternatives Fitladz on Friday followed by their new afterhours Bodyshakers, while players The RVT have a weekend of fun with Shake Your Tail Feather on Friday, Duckie on Saturday & S.L.A.G.S./Chill-out on Sunday and The Eagle have another terrific Tonker party on Friday, a special party on Saturday called “Milk – The Cream Of Eagle” celebrating the best of the venue’s events, while on Sunday favourite Horse Meat Disco returns. And no weekend in Vauxhall would be complete without both Later, which has definitely captured the imagination of late, as has Orange which is the only way to see in Monday morning & the working week in hedonistic madness.

And away from Soho & Vauxhall, there are some superb events on offer, which include a full weekend of activity at The Dalston Superstore in Shoreditch, with deep house & disco attack being the name of the game on Friday while on Saturday Horse Meat Disco’s Severino & Luke Howard spearhead some super funky house sounds while Sunday is all about fun with their Vogue outing. Over in Bishopsgate, Caligula returns for another bubbly bash at The Bathhouse, while further down by London Bridge, Latin-luscious Exilio returns to Guy’s Bar for a fun filled night of salsa, meringue & bachata style house, while it’s all about gay Bingo at the Supper Club in Nottinghill as team that is Jonny Woo, Ma Butcher & Jon Sizzle bring another wacky Warhol themed evening of camp fun. But, if you fancy going further afield then iconic Sunday Sundae in Brighton is a good bet, as it launches its latest season at Audio on Marine Parade in Brighton & with the weather looking good, it should prove a popular choice.
