Weekend - 23rd - 25th Aoril

Hey Folks,

With the weekend looking like being dominated by the joining of forces between two of the scenes biggest names not just in the afterhours market, but clubbing in general, you will be forgiven for thinking that there is little else on offer to tempt out the faithful, although far from it.

Having devoted a special post to Beyond/Trade – “The Event” (see our preview section for full details) here we focus on two other parties that have grabbed our attention, as well as our look at the best of the rest in Soho, Vauxhall & beyond.

First up is uber fetish club Hard On!, which returns for its monthly outing this Saturday (24th April) serving up its usual blend of dominant dance music vs submissive yet sexy sounds, played out by the band of beefy, tough & talented D.J. residents, with plenty of horny happenings across three rooms for audacious action. The name of the game here is very much leather, rubber, uniform, combats, boots, harnesses, collars, chains, chaps and definitely boots, so no cute boys in jeans & trainers, but ardent followers of the fetish theme, some (well quite a lot really) dressing down to dare, braving to bare, footwear ranging from the meek & mild D.M. style boot to the full on wader and every sort in between, get the picture? So, Hard On! is not necessarily for the faint hearted, but moreover for those into a bit of fetish fantasy and not scared to throw away a few inhibitions for the night, as the infamous playroom will be in full swing and from personal experience will be heaped with hot & horny men who will have plenty in mind, so don’t expect a sociable chat, as it will be definitely less talking and more action, with the backdrop of sexy visuals to stimulate the thoughts. And talking of stimulation, in a chat with the clubs promoter, the fabulous Suzie Krueger, we are reliably informed that the usual saucy stage shows will be boosted by the inclusion of a porn star with eye popping proportions and not just his muscles but his man tool too. Now for those sexy sounds and the cruise bar, or now better known as the blue room, will be in the hands of Hugos’land, Halo-Is & Dmac, serving up a hardened house with a twist, while over in the main, red room, resident jocks, probably in jocks, Hifi Sean & Brent Nicholls, will be going a little more progressive, funky, and full-on, their sexy sounds aiming to compliment the hunky dancers on display as well as limber the loins. Add to all that the fabulous private heated outside terrace to use for some socialising splendour, or like us to cool off from the humping horseplay inside, as well as plenty of cum & cruise areas, and there is not better a party to well & truly tantalise your fetish teased tatstebuds. Hard On! is a members only club, but this is easy to organise, as you can either join online at http://hardonclub.co.uk/ or by visiting fetish stores RoB or Expectations, membership a mere £10 per annum. Entry to the club is then £15 for members who are entitled to bring two guests, the door charge for them being £20, but remember that there is a strict dresscode enforcement, so grab those leathers & boots and get yourselves down to Hidden this Saturday as Hard On! opens its doors from 10 p.m. running through till 5 a.m..

Our other focus goes to Booster, which starts a new chapter in its short history this coming Sunday (25th April) as it moves a hop, skip & jump (literally) across Vauxhall to its new home Area, with a new timing of 6 p.m. and with a new look D.J. line up of rotating residents. Whilst the club may not be a new concept, moving it to a new venue and a new day is a bold step for the organisers as Booster was originally launched as a Friday afterhours at Union in Vauxhall, at the time seemingly going head to head with the well established A.M. A superb launch night was followed by mixed fortunes and given the ferocious competition & the promoters desire to allow the brand to stretch its leg, has decided it was time for change, the promoter remarking on the move when the news hit “...now we have decided to both take advantage of the coming spring sunshine and move to a new venue on a new day & at a new time, taking a step up and move Booster to the clubbing `hot spot’ superclub Area...”. So, in moving the club to a Sunday night, the offering is set to add dimension to clubbing in Vauxhall, sitting neatly, as it will, between Fire’s Later & Orange and the aim is to make the most of Area’s “...Ibiza style terrace...” but with music still being central to the theme. So, with the reason for the change covered, what will the new look Booster offer? Well, Energie, the team behind Booster, promise a star spangled launch, making the most of Area’s Terrace space, but enticing you into both the Embankment Bar space & inside Terrace room, where Terry Bryan of Beyond, Later & Orange fame, as well as Salvation’s own Sharon O Love will be supplying the scintillating sounds, while down in the main room, the feel will be very different as D.J. Ferno, known for his performances at Egg as well as on Push FM, together with Ministry of Sound’s Miss Crazy D, will be taking you in a much deeper progressive house journey. But as a special addition for the launch party, the Booster promotions team have secured the services of non other than vocal pop diva legend Alex Party, who hit the high notes with her massive top 40 smash “Don’t Give Me Your Life” (a few years ago admittedly) but will no doubt rouse the audience with her repertoire of songs. And if that wasn’t enough the team will be offering plenty of drinks promotions as well as a free glass of wine to the first 200 through the door & if the forecast is anything to go by, the terrace at Area will be the place to be. Booster swings open its launching (well re-launching) doors from 6p.m., the club running till midnight, entrance being a mere £5 before 8 p.m. although with plenty of free entry offers to those at Later & special £3 entry to Beyond party goers. More general info on Booster can be found at http://groups.to/energielondon

Right, well what about the best of the rest? Well up in Soho Lo-Profile & Profile once again show the way, as the Logan Presents team takes over both venues on Friday for their Matinee La Leche pre-party. D.J.’s Alessandro & Nathan 6 will be spinning the sounds downstairs in Lo-Profile while Gaydar’s own Phil Marriot will be behind the decks in Profile and both spaces will be given the Matinee production treatment with the usual flamboyance of gorgeous dancers and we suspect plenty of Matinee give-aways. Then on Saturday Gonzalo & Hugh Stevenson take care of proceedings in Lo-Profile, while scene favourite Brent Nicholls treats you to some terrific tunes upstairs. Other offerings highlights in Soho include Friday nighter The Cave which returns for another huge party at Barcode, welcoming Megawoof residents Tim Mcloone to the decks, while Shadow Lounge open their doors to another Therapy session, also on Friday, when D.J. Minx selects the soothing sounds while Andrew Elmore masterminds the music their Inferno night on Saturday night. One other mention goes to the ever popular The Box, just over the border in Covent Garden, that will no doubt prove extremely popular this Friday with alfresco socialites, D.J. Minx spreading her musical magic.

Down in Vauxhall and there is plenty on offer, Barcode very much showing the way with great quality music in both the front dance bar spaces with a star studded D.J. line up right across the weekend, Friday including Steven Artis, & Saki, on the decks, the musical direction on Saturday being steered in the front bar by Mario & Steven Gellar, while the dance bar sees one of its strongest line up as Pagano, Hifi Sean & Gonzalo Rivas will no doubt serve up some scintillating sounds, while Sundays are proving to be very popular and we suspect that this Sunday will be no different, favourites Gonzalo Rivas & Steven Artis will be back to entertain. Other highlights include Onyx at Area on Friday followed by A.M. at Fire, while Union offer alternatives Fitladz on Friday followed by their new afterhours Bodyshakers, while players The RVT have a weekend of fun with Shake Your Tail Feather on Friday, Duckie on Saturday & S.L.A.G.S./Chill-out on Sunday and The Eagle have another terrific Tonker party on Friday, a special party on Saturday called “Milk – The Cream Of Eagle” celebrating the best of the venue’s events, while on Sunday favourite Horse Meat Disco returns. And no weekend in Vauxhall would be complete without both Later, which has definitely captured the imagination of late, as has Orange which is the only way to see in Monday morning & the working week in hedonistic madness.

And away from Soho & Vauxhall, there are some superb events on offer, which include a full weekend of activity at The Dalston Superstore in Shoreditch, with deep house & disco attack being the name of the game on Friday while on Saturday Horse Meat Disco’s Severino & Luke Howard spearhead some super funky house sounds while Sunday is all about fun with their Vogue outing. Over in Bishopsgate, Caligula returns for another bubbly bash at The Bathhouse, while further down by London Bridge, Latin-luscious Exilio returns to Guy’s Bar for a fun filled night of salsa, meringue & bachata style house, while it’s all about gay Bingo at the Supper Club in Nottinghill as team that is Jonny Woo, Ma Butcher & Jon Sizzle bring another wacky Warhol themed evening of camp fun. But, if you fancy going further afield then iconic Sunday Sundae in Brighton is a good bet, as it launches its latest season at Audio on Marine Parade in Brighton & with the weather looking good, it should prove a popular choice.

To get full details of all these alternative happenings, whether in Soho, Vauxhall or elsewhere, go either to the popular press or scroll through the individual events available through social networking site Facebook.

In addition, don’t forget that when it comes to the best gAylist events in London, you need go no further THE clubbing website Seenqueen, which has an extensive listing of the hottest happenings, along with plenty more including music choices, club pics & video’s and well as the latest news & links to the latest club reviews. WR Extra Bites - Hustla-Industri

Hey Folks,

Well not quite the weekend we know, but a definite date for your diary as Industri this coming Thursday (22nd April) goes all Hustlaball on us and for good reason it seems as it will be hosting the competition to find London’s hottest go-go dancers to perform in the Hard On! room at the May Bank Holiday extravaganza that will be Hustlaball at The Renaissance Rooms on Sunday 2nd May.

So, what can you expect from this evening at Barcode Vauxhall? Well, Industri is renowned for being THE social soiree on the clubbing calendar and this coming Thursday will be no exception as the magnificent Minty will be hosting proceedings, no doubt armed with plenty of shots to kick start your evening. And as for the go-go competition, well expect up to eight dancers that will be wanting to delight, the panel of judges on who makes the grade down to Hard On’s! very own Suzie Krueger, scene dancer agent provocateur Chris Geary & Seequeen’s own Brent Nicholls (also an Industri resident D.J.) will be casting the deciding votes. But it will also be down to audience participation, no fingering please!! and the whole event will be sure to attract a bucket load of scene faces, gay paparazzi & even some off duty go-go’s eyeing up the competition.

So where do you need to be? Well Industri at Barcode Vauxhall this Thursday from (we recommend) 9 p.m., with the contest starting around 10.15 p.m. And providing the musical soundtrack, will be Industri residents Paul Heron & (of course) Brent Nicholls, the now rare back-to-back set being recorded for posterity. And with plenty of drinks offers, not to mention FREE entry, you would be foolish to miss out. What more can we say, apart from what we always do.....Go There! Be There!

WR Extra Bites - Lovechild "Wet"

Hey Folks,

Well, the sky & atmosphere high above London may be full of showers of volcanic ash, but down here on terra-ferma the only shower tonight will be pure water, as Lovechild goes all “wet” on us, with their latest instalment at Fire in Vauxhall from 11 p.m.

Now, the latest news is a further addition to the D.J. line up, as Danny Bond from The Bassmonkey’s, joins the already impressive resident & guest stars gracing the Lovechild decks. Mr Bond, as part of the trio of talents that make up one of the world’s most respected production & D.J. teams that is the Bassmonkey’s, brings his classically trained musician background & knowledge, a man that has his finger very much on the pulse of the club circuit, applying his production skills to finishing & blending tracks that have an amazing dancefloor appeal, so is one performance you won’t want to miss tonight.

And as for the rest, well it couldn’t get much better than the team in charge of the tunes, the full line up being as follows

Main Room

Phil Hewson – 11 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Danny Bond – 1 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Tony English – 2 a.m. to 4.30 a.m.
Alan K – 4.30 a.m. to close

Contact “Wet” Room

Johan Khoury – 1 a.m. to 2.30 a.m.
Pagano – 2.30 a.m. to 5 a.m.
Alessandro – 5 a.m. to close

“Love” Lounge

Gabriele Cutrano – 11 p.m. to 1.30 a.m.
Craig Daniels – 1.30 a.m. to 3 a.m.
JC Christopher – 3 a.m. to 5 a.m.
Saki – 5 a.m. to close

And, as we speak, the showers are being installed in the Contact room, which we cannot wait to see in action, especially with Chris Geary’s muscle-bound go-go’s getting a showering soak under the free running water, which should prove to be a shimmering sexy & seductive showing never seen in Fire before.

Add to all that a live broadcast on top online radio station Push FM, being beamed across the world, direct from the Lovechild’s main room from midnight and this “Wet” experience of an event will be reaching a massive audience.

But, if in London and not caught up in the mayhem caused by Iceland, what better way to party than get down to Fire for Lovechild “Wet”. Tickets are still on sale both online at http://clubtickets.com/ & at usual Soho outlets, Prowler, Clone Zone, DV8 & Rio Beach at just £10, although more will be available on the door. More details of the event can be found at http://alexerfan.com/.

So, it’s definitely going not going to be a case of raining ash, but raining men & time to get wet & wild at Lovechild tonight. You know where to be!!

Weekend - 15th to 18th April

Hey Folks,

Well, with some supersized events coming up over the next few weeks, it probably comes as no surprise that the scene appears to be drawing breath, although there is still plenty on offer to tempt you out this weekend. That said, having scanned the wave of hopefuls, it seems that one tall poppy stands out in the field of other protagonists, but in true fashion, having focussed on this outstanding event, we take a look at the best of the rest, splitting Soho from Vauxhall & the alternatives.

So, who is this tall poppy then? Well, Lovechild of course, which returns to Fire in Vauxhall this Saturday (17th April) for what can only be described as the “wettest” event in the venues & indeed the club brands history, as Alex Erfan & his team ramp up the raunch with the unique installation of showers (yes you your eyes don’t deceive you – showers!). This will no doubt attract plenty of attention for those seeking that extra special sexy addition to the usual fun filled frolicking that this already beefed up, masculine & horny happening offers, the delightful drenching far from dampening the spirits or cooling down the cavorting, but raising the temperature and the audiences appetite for the audacious activity that will no doubt take place. So, with the theme set into motion, what else can you expect from this extravagant event? Well, there is no doubt the music will be absolutely top draw, with Lovechild regular residents Alessandro Londra, Phil Hewson, Tony English, Craig Daniels & Saki, joined by Pagano, Gabriele Cutrano & JC Christopher, all three making a welcome return to the fold, the combo of these 8 residents ensuring that you will be treated to the best genres of house, from electro funk, through progressive & tech, to latin infused and back again But it doesn’t stop there as flying in from Australia will be special guest D.J. Johan Khoury, who brings with him a significant pedigree within in the music industry down under, not just in his immense D.J.’ing skills, having played alongside a host of international stars, his career behind the decks also making him truly international, with guest appearances across the globe but a string of studio works as well as being the producer for Australia’s ARIA club chart, speaks volumes, as will his trademark uplifting vocal & highly energetic house. Add to that the exciting inclusion of London’s own Alan K, who will be known to you as the superstar resident of Beyond, as well as A.M., Gravity & Later, Alan probably one of the most talented mixing masters we know, often blending three, sometimes four records together to produce a unique sound that sets his aside from his peers. His uplifting yet pumping style will definitely take Fire’s main room by storm, the fella most accustomed to this space, having played out to rapturous response at both As One parties & virtually every week at A.M. Well, that’s the music sorted, but there’s more, as the infamous contact room returns, an indulgent space allowing a little naughtiness among the netting, adding to the spice of the shower facilities. Then there are the hunky muscled & gorgeous go-go’s that will be displaying more than a cheek or two as well as their flashing assets, definitely raising the blood pressure and probably much more, Chris Geary masterminding the event production, animation & of course the shower installations (will he be holding out our towel!?), he remarking that, “...we’re taking steps to keep you both wet & dry...well a bit more wet hopefully...”, what more can we say!! So this latest Lovechild party looks like making a real splash in more ways than one, it all kicking off at Fire in Vauxhall from 11 p.m., the club running through till 7 a.m. Entry is a mere £10 in advance from all the usual Soho outlets or online at http://clubtickets.com/, with tickets on sale on the door, although expect to pay more, hosts Jerry Boston & Chrissy Darling ensuring your smooth entry & also fun right across the night Further info on this and other Alex Erfan Presents events can be found at http://alexerfan.com/.

Now, just before we move on, don’t forget that the wet & wild activity on offer at Lovechild this Saturday, gets the warm up treatment at Rupert Street the night before (Friday 16th), with the pre-party celebrations, when Chris Geary & his gorgeous dancers will provide the eye candy, plus all the team will be around to help kick start your weekend, with plenty of special entry passes to the main event on offer, as well handing out lots of lovely Lovechild goodies. The superb wild & wet soundtrack for the night will be provided by Lovechild & Rupert Street resident Alessandro Londra and we are really looking forward to his set, especially having gotten hooked to his latest compilation offering, produced especially for this latest Lovechild love-in, and is definitely worth a listen as well as an addition to your collection. Just go to http://soundcloud.com/djalessandrolondra/lovechild-wet. The pre-party kicks off from 9 p.m. and, naturally entry is free.

That’s our best, so what about the best of the rest? Well, looking at Soho, Lo-Profile & Profile tops the tree with their weekend starting early, Lo-Profile’s new Thursday night opening seeing D.J. Sam Londt spin the sounds, with Chrissy Darling hosting and lots of special drinks offers. Then Friday sees the welcome return of Luke Hope & D’Johnny, while Saturday is steered in the hands of Brent Nicholls & Nick Evans. Upstairs in Profile Bar, Rob Sykes masters the music on Thursday, while Friday feature Phil Marriot entertains, Saturday getting the Alessandro orchestration. Then on Sunday this hip Wardour Street hangout serves up a night of “Diner Bingo” hosted by Timberlina & Hey Beylen, which should be a hoot. Other mentions go to very popular Barcode nights “Homosocial” & “Cave” on Thursday & Friday respectively with regular popular Saturday nighter seeing Guy Williams selecting the music, as well as Shadow Lounge’s trio of offerings beginning with their charity night of entertainment, “Stars In The Lounge”, with performances from a variety of acts including the barmy Barbara Bush, hunk Nikk Mager & band singer Shocking Pink, with proceeds from the evening split between worthy causes HIVision & hospice Demelza. Friday welcomes “Therapy” to the lounge, while Saturday sees another “Inferno” session. Also worth a big shout is the monthly outing “Decadence”, which returns to No5 club on Cavendish Square for its swish & splendid happening on Sunday.

Down in Vauxhall and Barcode is definitely the mover & shaker on the scene with Industri kicking off their long weekend, Brent Nicholls tracking the tunes & Minty masterminding this social soiree splendour. Friday welcomes a host of S’s behind the decks, Sharon O Love, Sami Kiveri & Saki serving up the sounds, while Saturday sees BCV stretch its legs with Gary H, Micky Galliano, Hugh Stevenson, Mattias & Steven Artis behind the decks, while sex bomb Steven Artis returns on Sunday to see out the weekend with Paul Coals. Area’s duo of delightful dance clubs do it again, Onyx on Friday welcoming the gigantic talent Guy Williams as guest D.J., as well as hosting club promotions outfit Energie’s “friends party”, being held in celebration of their new venture (more in that in a jiffy), while Beyond on Sunday morning looks set to be a stormer with the return of the formidable residency team, including the very on form Steve Pitron & Jamie Head. Other Vauxhall visitations include The RVT’s usuals Duckie & S.L.A.G.S/Chill-out events as well as Boogaloo Stu’s night Splosh-A-Rama outing on Friday which has a “Bean Casserole” theme (don’t ask!), while The Eagle have Tonker & Horse Meat Disco sandwiching new Saturday nighter Xanadude, which has a distinct 80’s/90’s & hi-nrg theme. And how could we forget Fire, which has another Gravity session on Thursday, then sees the return of Rudeboyz on Friday for their “Turn The Other Cheek” event, definitely for ladz in lads, with Zack Hadley, Devilish & Alessandro in charge of the horny tunes, free CD’s up for grabs & a raunchy wet underwear competition to top the cruising entertainment. Rudeboyz boys can stay on for free as A.M. takes over taking revellers deep in Saturday morning, with Lovechild “Wet” on Saturday night, Later on Sunday afternoon and no weekend complete with Orange on Sunday night.

Away from these two gay village hotbeds, alternatives extend to new kids on the block, two Friday outings on a Sunday one. First is Stunner Studio’s & Londonlads outing Boys2men School Disco, a club come cruise concept that serves up rock, pop, disco & dirty sounds, with even dirtier intentions, a spanking space & a kinky classroom tying in the school theme, although uniform is not mandatory but will get you discounted entry if you make the effort. Then over in Stoke Newington, Bardens Boudoir launch their Berlin style seducing showcase cabaret, pushing the boardy boundaries with The Two Wrongies, Oral Oral, Spuky & Under The Radar providing the provocative performances. On Sunday Julian Bennett launches a new afternoon social gathering called Fabulis at new venue McQueen in the heart of Shoreditch, the event aimed at those in search of a hangover free happening with plenty of networking, movie watching & more, music & drink on tap. Other alternative audacities include Caligula at The Bathhouse in Bishopsgate, also on Friday, while The Dalston Superstore is the hippest hangout over East, with entertainment on offer all weekend, rotating nights across the month, Thursday seeing Prince Nelly take charge of Peich, while Friday has Charity Shoppe, serving up junkyard house & abandoned disco, Bodytalk on Saturday headed up by Jon Pleased Wimmin, with the relaxing Vogue Sundays rounding off The Superstore weekend.

For further details on our Soho, Vauxhall & alternative happening bests, check either the popular press or go hunting on the fabulous Facebook.

Now, to that new venture from Energie and whilst the club may not be a new concept, moving it to a new venue and a new day is a bold step by the organisers. Booster, which was launched as a Friday afterhours at Union in Vauxhall, seemingly going head to head with the well established A.M. & seeing a superb start followed by mixed fortunes, has decided it is time for change. Energie’s & Booster’s promoter Romain Lopez remarked on the move “...now we have decided to take a step up and move to the clubbing `Hot Spot’...” and this decision will see the club move from its Friday afterhours slot too, Romain confirming that the new look Booster will be at “...Superclub...” Area on a Sunday evening, launching at its new home next weekend (Sun 25th April) and going weekly from 6 p.m. The offering is set to add dimension to clubbing in Vauxhall on a Sunday, sitting neatly, as it will, between Fire’s Later & Orange and the aim is to make the most of Area’s “...Ibiza style terrace...” but with a tasty looking D.J. line up and a guest P.A. for the launch. We will bring you fuller details in our post next week, as more news on Booster’s change filters through.

Right that’s about all for our choices for this weekend, but watch out via both our previews & hot dates posts for news of exciting events coming up both during the rest of April & into May. Also, don’t forget to visit http://seenqueen.com/clubs for extensive listings of the best gAylist offerings and the rest of the site for news, music choices, scene pics, videos & more.

As for our weekend, well it starts with Industri tomorrow night (Thurs) probably armed with candy, then we will be loving it up with Lovechild’s pre-party on Friday, will no doubt get wet at Fire on Saturday, then will be drying out at Beyond on Sunday morning. So, if you see us out come say hi, but whatever you do, have a great weekend and as we always say.........Go There! Be There!

Weekend - 9th to 11th April

Hey Folks,

Well, after a break of just over a week, we are back with our recommendations post, wading through the choices on offer for this weekend, on the back of a hectic Easter, which saw some fabulous events, two of which we will be reviewing, details of these out a little later.

Now, to this weekend and despite the feel that the scene may be taking a breather following the plethora of parties over the extended Bank Holiday just gone, two have caught our eye and we also give space to an “alternative” choice as well as looking at the best of the rest & the sure fire hit of the weekend.

First up is the return of Patrick Lilley’s latest club night to his promoting empire, “Music Is The Answer”, aptly titled “Volume 2” which takes place at Barcode Vauxhall tonight (Fri 9th April) following its highly successful launch last month, the whole style of the club being very akin to Mr Lilley’s uber cool club brand Queer Nation. For those of you unfamiliar with this most popular club night, Queer Nation was a major player in the Saturday clubbing market for many years, cutting an individual yet attractive stride at its home, the trendy venue of the time Substation South, this monthly event serving up a delightful blend of delicious soulful, funky & upbeat music, with a cool as a cucumber crowd that certainly knew how to splendidly socialise & deliriously dance all at the same time. So, with the launch of “Music Is The Answer”, Patrick and his team have in some ways recreated the magic of Queer Nation right in the thick of the Vauxhall Gay village, taking over Barcode across both rooms, delivering a beautiful blend of quality soulful house, deep & sexy beats with plenty of gospel style vocals & thumping baselines, very much in the New York house style with some gorgeous intertwines of vintage disco, that will definitely mean that music will be the answer. And the feedback we got from a whole host of people that attended the launch, was that the night was a resounding success, drew in plenty of Queer Nation faithful along with lots of new faces that craved & enjoyed a Barcode Friday night that had a distinctively individual & fresh feel. Indeed both the promotion team & the venue management remarked that it was one of the most successful Friday’s they had seen for a long time and, Easter tardiness aside, we expect “Volume 2” to be as much if not more popular than the launch. Speaking with Patrick Lilley, he explained of March’s party “...It worked a dream we had both rooms rocking which is a first for Fridays - lots of sexy black, white and latino men grooving and a music selection that was a subtle twist on the plot. I was very pleased......it was the perfect place for us to create that type of event as a lot of Queer Nation people already like Barcode...”. So, with the scene well & truly set, what can you expect from this “Vol 2” outing? Well, as music is central to the theme, New York will meet London in glorious fashion, D.J.’s Pier Need & Supadon (of Queer Nation fame) will spearhead the NYC club space, while up front in the London room, Freddie Dimanche & Mickey Galliano will bring their own special blend of sounds to draw you in. As for entry, well a mere £4 will allow you to party from 10 p.m. when the club night kicks off, right through till 6 a.m., with those armed with either a flyer, special invite or Facebook printout will get in completely gratis before midnight. So, keep your eyes peeled for those Facebook posts & for more general information go to http://bar-code.co.uk/ and let your hosts Patrick Lilley & Clington Forbes treat you to a terrific time.

Our other focus goes to fellow veteran club promoter Suzi Kruger of Fist & Hard On! fame, who decided to fill a gap in the fetish market in Central London with the birth of club night “Sex”, which kicked off at the trendy Sweatbox sauna & gym club on Ramillies Street in Soho last year, offering those into sports kit, football shorts or simply towel wearing, an environment where they could safely indulge in raunchy activity, but with the added pleasure of top notch sounds by some of the scenes sexiest D.J. talents. And that has seen this monthly outing draw a loyal following, a very up for it crowd that have come to adore the combination of horny happenings with sex drenched sounds within a sultry yet seductive space, tickling their fancy for the sporting fetish or simply baring their assets from the simple coverage of a towel, the sauna element of the club night seeing to that. And the night makes a welcome return in its monthly slot of the second Saturday, although the team have changed the name from “Sex” to “Sweat”, nevertheless retaining the characteristics of the former blending elements of both to great effect. And as for those sexy sounds & D.J’s, residents Brent Nicholls & Saki certainly fulfil that criteria, nit just for delivering funky, chunky & horny house, but also serving as some tempting eye candy behind the decks, both entering into the spirit of the night and decking themselves out in suitable sportswear. As for the venue, well Sweatbox is Central London’s best sauna & gym combo’s, offering a modern & swish space to work out then sweat out to your heart’s desire, conveniently located just 2 minutes walk into Soho from Oxford Circus tube & right in the thick of the best action that the West End has to offer and with monthly membership at just a mere £39, is the best value for money gym across gAylist London. So, in running her night “Sweat”, Suzi couldn’t have asked for a better host venue and with the club night kicking off at 9 p.m., it definitely attracts the early birds who are up for some audacious activity, the event running through until 4 a.m. Now fear not, unlike Hard On! this is NOT a membership club night and for all the fun & frolicking, music on tap & all the gym & sauna facilities at your fingertips, the £15 entrance is very good value indeed, but don’t expect to pitch up in regular club wear, as the dresscode is firmly sports kit, football shorts, jocks, speedos or, if you prefer just a towel (ooh er missus!). Further details of the venue & of the club night can be found at http://sweatboxsoho.com/.

Now, we promised at peek at something a little alternative to the norm and the place which seems to be strutting this stride at the moment is The Dalston Superstore in Shoreditch, which has spearheaded and trend to escape out east rather than succumbing to the usual suspects in Soho or Vauxhall. And leading the way in its many specialist nights across any given week, is “Eurotrash”, the brainchild of swanky Swede D.J. & promoter Per Q.X., who together with Alejandro Asencio, bring a whole host our European D.J. talent to play at this trendsetting yet trashy monthly mash up. Having gone all Abba-tastic on us last month in celebration of Per’s birthday, this time the disco goes Dutch, as D.J. Lupe flies in from Amsterdam to join Per & Jeff Laurence behind the decks downstairs, delivering a delicious dish full of electro & ravey indie dance, all helped along by mic vocals from very devious Miss Crystal MC, while Alejandro, accompanied by Jeanette aka boombox & Sloany, spin the trashy tracks upstairs, very much 80’s & 90’sstyle euro pop. Judging by the turnout last month, this is one very in demand event and what’s more is free to get in up till midnight (£3 thereafter), with Eurotrash kicking off at 10 p.m. & running through until 2 a.m. and given the fact this it kicks off a weekend of birthday bashes, as The Dalston Superstore celebrates a year of alternative activity, we couldn’t think of a better way start the festivities. As for the rest of the weekend, well, Saturday is the actual birthday night and in celebration, some of the venues most favourite D.J.’s will be entertaining, including the jovial Joakim, of Tiger Sushi label fame, Horse Meat Disco’s very own Jim Stanton & Ben Pistor from Disco Bloodbath, all three playing in the basement & no doubt creating a veritable storm from behind the decks, while upstairs the infamous Dalston First Ladies Dart Team in the shape of Jonjo, Mikki Most & Ian Robinson will be supplying the sounds to compliment the veritable feast of boozy giveaways &, of course, the mandatory birthday cake (probably cakes!). And with an extra special birthday tinged “Dutty” party on Sunday, serving up 80’s, 90’s & electro beats from Scottee, Double D & Dutty Boi, as well as plenty of birthday party bags handed out, the whole weekend over in Shoreditch in the hands of The Dalston Superstore looks like being a blast & well worth a visit. Now the venue is located at 117 Kingsland Road, the nearest tube being Old Street, but is served by a bucket load of bus routes. This cafe/bar is open 7 days a week for, as they say, “...booze, brunch, burgers, boys, cakes, coffee & plenty of other stuff...”. More info on the venue can be obtained via their Facebook group, by e-mailing simply to hello@dlastonsuperstore.com or by visiting their website.

Right, so what do the best of the rest have to offer? Well, Lo-Profile is yet again a great bet this weekend, with the dynamic duo of Mikey D & Steve Pitron giving the place a distinct Beyond feel to it on Friday, while on Saturday latino lovelies Gonzalo Rivas & Alessandro Londra rip up the dancefloor with their Spanish & Italian intentions. Profile Bar upstairs is a hip happening hang out & with a fabulous food menu, delicious cocktails & a relaxing yet trendy style, is a great way to kick start your night, music on tap from Phil Marriot on Friday & Rob Sykes on Saturday. Other Soho offerings include Village which has their “Discolicious” night on Friday & their “Adamix” outing on Saturday, both serving up classic 70’s, 80’s tunes from Hedi Liscious & more trendy pop from the hunky D.J. Adamix. If you fancy going all bearish, then Barcode entertain another Cave happening on Friday, pint sized powerhouse Steven Artis supplying the sounds, then on Saturday Brent Nicholls looks after proceedings with, we are sure a doze full of his “Nu-Funk” house. The Box is very much the gAylisters choice as the place to been seen & to make the most of the warm weather with alfresco socialising, Friday being particularly popular, while our other Soho selection goes to Rupert Street which remains as popular as ever and has Steven Gellar spinning behind the decks on Saturday. Down in Vauxhall and there is plenty going on as usual, with Friday seeing Onyx return to Area after their biggest party to date, “Resurrection” last week, which stole the show south of the river, resident D.J.’s Phil Marriot, Jamie Hammond, & Jeff Souza the focus of attention in the main room this week but with plenty more besides in the Terrace Bar & Black room’s. But The RVT will be holding its own, with “Kimono Krush” on Friday, “Duckie” on Saturday &, of course their “S.L.A.G.S./Chill-out” splendid Sunday, as will the Eagle, with “Tonker” on Friday, “Carpet Burn” on Saturday and “Horse Meat Disco” on Sunday. Club Union push out their own boat with their afterhours Friday offering ,“Booster”, while the other afterhours party “A.M.” at Fire sees Gonzalo Rivas, D’Johnny & Alan K take the main room by storm, Fire delectations also including “Later” on Sunday afternoon, which is going through something like a purple patch resurgence & is sure to be packed (we can’t wait for Terry Bryan’ set) and no weekend would be complete without “Orange”, which takes you into Monday in manic madness, the ideal sandwich being a breather in Barcode on Sunday night when Paul Heron & Gonzalo Rivas will keep the weekend rolling. Further details of all these parties can be found in the popular press.

Right, well just before we go, we thought we would give our favourite club a big shout (and why not) as Beyond “Afterhours” returns to Area on Sunday morning from 6 a.m. and looks like being the hit of the weekend again, not just serving up scintillating sounds in the main room, this week delivered delightful by the terrific trio of Mikey D, Steve Pitron & Alan K (these boys are unstoppable), but The Terrace Bar gets the Terry Bryan treatment as well as The Sharp Boys & then Jamie Head, who played THE set of the weekend in the same space last Monday afternoon at Orange’s Easter extravaganza (watch for the review). But the pace is hotting up in the “Blackbox” room as well, as it now plays host to the razor sharp sounds that are “Raw”, the legendary offering from Orange, with Hifi Sean taking centre stage to delve into deep & funky tech tunes. Advance tickets of £12 are on sale at the usual Soho outlets, Clone Zone, DV8, & Prowler, at The Box or Fire but also online at http://clubtickets.com/, the club running through to 1 p.m.

O.k. folks, that’s it for another weekend of choices and we hope there is something in there for you, although whatever you decide to do have a great one. As for ours, well it has already started with an impeccable Industri last night in the hands of Minty, Paul Heron & some great new lighting & smoke effects in Barcode Vauxhall. Tonight will see us return to the scene of the crime for “Music Is The Answer” , then have a definitely date at Beyond & Later with our clubbing pal Joel, and if Paul Heron gets his way, we will be at Barcode after that and maybe even Horse Meat Disco & Orange. We are still pondering over Barcode & Sweat on Saturday to complete a full on weekend, but if you see us out, come say hi and as we always say.....Go There! Be There!
