Weekend - 16th / 19th October

Hey Folks,

Well, after a frustrating few weeks without our beloved laptop, we have been struggling to keep up to speed with all our regular features, but are pleased to say that we are up & running once again, so apologies for the break in service.

So, what’s on in and around gAylist/land London to tempt you out this weekend? Well, there are a couple of little gems, even it is the characteristically quiet third one of the month.

First up and gaining some real momentum is Onyx, the newish Friday weekly club at Area in Vauxhall tonight (Fri 16th Oct), the brainchild of young D.J. talent Steven Gellar who hosts the evening as well as playing out some tough & chunky house in the main room, accompanied residents Jamie Hammond, Jeff Souza & Gaydar’s very own Phil Marriot, with room two delivering deep, dark & dirty tech/electro house in the hands of Ariel, Lisa German & Daz Saund, while in the terrace room, its fresh pop served up by Jason Prince, James St. James & Tuomo Fox. Expect all the fabulous visuals, lasers, pyrotechnics & lighting that make Area a special space, not to mention sexy go-go’s, stilt walkers & even fire-eaters that will start your weekend off in truly reckless fashion. Doors open at 11 p.m. with the club running through until 5 a.m. with a free pre-party in The Embankment Bar from 9 p.m. Entry is free until midnight & then £6 thereafter, with advance tickets available at http://clubtickets.com/

Next up is Tabloid which returns with “Edition 2 – Hollywood Enquirer” at Fire in Vauxhall this Saturday (17th Oct) delivering the music of today, tonight & tomorrow morning in the hands of news worthy D.J’s Jon Byrne, Nick Tcherniak, Jamie Head & The Sharp Boys in the main room, joined by headliners Sneaky Sound System who will play out their final gig of 2009. Over in the Mirror Arch is the dynamic duo of Gonzalo Rivas & Hi-Fi Sean keeping the sounds tough & minimal, while over in the aptly named Media Lounge, Tasty Tim & Jonny Red serve up lighter bites to sneak a mention. With some exciting new visuals, extra special production & a real tinsel town feel to this latest instalment, proceedings kick off at 11 p.m., with the club running through until 8 a.m. Entry is just £8 before midnight but then £15 thereafter, so it’s really pays to get there early, with the added temptation of free passes to Beyond for the first 30 through the door as well as super discount drinks offers for you early birds. Check out http://myspace.com/firelondon for more details.

Other options on offer include Lo-Profile with Paul Heron on the decks tonight (Fri) & D’Johnny & Alessandro spinning the tunes on Sat. Both Barcode’s provide great alternatives to the bigger clubs with a superb list of rotation resident D.J’s that include Mattias, Pagano, Nick Tcherniak, Hugh Stevenson, Hi-Fi Sean, Alan X, Gonzalo Rivas & loads more with Steven Artis part of proceedings at BCV tonight & Brent Nicholls warming things up tomorrow night. Beyond remains as popular as ever, being the official afterparty for Tabloid. For more details of these, check the popular press.

Just a quick mention goes to brand new club launch “Konekted” which takes place this Sunday at the fabulous Cable in London Bridge, which should certainly spice up Sunday night/ Monday morning clubbing. We have a special post due out later, so watch this space for full details, but suffice to say, this is a definite date for your diaries.

As for us, well we will definitely be heading down to Cable on Sunday and are planning a night of social splendour on Saturday, which will include Barcode Vauxhall, so if you see us out, come say hi and as we always say....Go There! Be There!
