Weekend Recommendations - 26th/28th June

Hey Folks,

As June comes to a speedy end, what can you expect from the last weekend of this “flaming” month in gAylist/land London? Well, it certainly looks like the focus will be south of the river with our first outdoor event, a birthday celebration & a walk on the wild (well sexier anyway) side.

First up is our yearly homage (is it 5 already?!) to the cute yet perfectly formed Clapham Street party this Sat (27th June) presented by Kazbar in association with The Two Brewers gay venues. This is a social soiree extraordinaire, where mixing with friends & spotting familiar faces is the name of the game. Add to that a mega line up of cabaret artists entertaining the throng, highlights will no doubt be Topping & Butch, Two’s Company (that’s Miss Jason & Maisie Trollette), Titti La Camp (with this year’s Drag Idol winner) & Dave Lynn, all hosted by non other than Sandra. So if cabaret is your thang you are in for a treat, with over 20 acts performing. Inside Kazbar D.J’s Yonika & Julius will be joined by resident Saint David to keep the party atmosphere at fever pitch & with stalls a plenty stretched along Edgeley Road there will be loads to keep you occupied. It all kicks off at 1 p.m. & runs through until 9 p.m. Entry is free but an expected donation of at least £1 in aid of GMFA & The Albert Kennedy Trust. For more details visit http://kazbarclapham.com/

Next up is THE party of the weekend and yes, it’s a birthday too as Barcode Vauxhall celebrates 3 years on the scene, this Sat night. Having made a huge impact not just on Vauxhall, this popular venue is expected to be packed to the rafters with all three rooms open & some extra special treats coming your way, not least with some devilish drinks promotions & gorgeous go-go dancers courtesy of Mark M Forms’ Fierce Intl dancers (no podiums for us Mr Nik!). However, music is what its about and fave Barcode residents will be on the decks to entertain, including Hi-Fi Sean, Tony Junior, Paul Coles & Mattias (yum!) joined by BCV’s own Saki and we are told some surprise guests. It all gets going from 9 p.m. and runs through till 6 a.m. (and possibly a bit beyond if owner Troy has anything to do with it). For more info check out their website http://bar-code.co.uk/

Last and flying the flag of sex, seduction, horniness & raunchiness, is the monthly return of Hard On! to Hidden in Vauxhall, again this Sat night. With its tried & tested formula, this is sure to bring them out, indeed if you fancy bringing out the fetish side in you, this is definitely the place to do it, with leather, rubber, uniform (definitely no jeans & trainers) in plentiful supply. Music across two rooms of dance, cruise & booze are supplied by J Tempest, DMac, Hugo’sland, Halo-Is & of course Brent Nicholls (not to be missed) together with a pervy performance by Tattoo Fatale to get the juices flowing. And with a fully equipped playroom there will be plenty to do & get involved with (ooh err missus!!). However, don’t forget, this is a members only club so get online at http://hardonclub.co.uk/ or pop into Regulation, Expectations or RoB at least 24 hrs before the event. Membership is just £10 for the year & entry to the club is £15, with two guest allowed per member at £20 each.

Other offerings include, Lo-Profile this Fri (26th) with Paul Heron taking centre stage (well D.J. booth anyway), the wild & wacky return of Gutterslut to Images in Hackney this Sat (27th) and Beyond at Area on Sunday morning which should prove popular with Barcode, Clapham & Hard On! revellers colliding into afterhour’s audacity. Details of these can be found in the popular press.

Also, don’t forget to visit http://seenqueen.com/ where you can find out everything there is to know about gAylist London & more!

As for us, well, it goes without saying that we will be at Industri tonight (Thurs 25th) with Minty & Brent Nicholls, then popping into The Box tomorrow evening (Fri 26th) with Oliver M spinning the tunes, then Clapham & Vauxhall on Sat. So if you see us out, come say hi & as we always say…..Go There! Be There!

Weekend Recommendations - 12/14th June 2009

Hey Folks,

Well, with a real spring in our step (a summery one at that!) we are very much looking forward to a fun filled weekend in gAylist London, so what better way to entice you into the fun, with our post coming out a little earlier than usual. So, without more of a do, here are our choices for this weekend.

First up and a birthday celebration at that (don’t we just love those) is the return of Hoof this Saturday (13th June), which launched to amazing accolade on Easter Bank Holiday at the gobsmackingly incredible Ghost in Farringdon, a voluptuous venue oozing quality & style, just the place to toast Hoof promoter Guy Williams’ birthday. Joining him & co-promoter Kath Harding on the decks is the talented Smokin Jo, who having recently been developing some new sounds which should prove a real treat. Doors open at 10 p.m. & the club runs through until 4 a.m. with £10 advance tickets available via http://ticketweb.co.uk/, with £10 entrance on the door before 11 p.m. £12 thereafter. So if Hoof be the music of love then trot on!! & Happy Birthday Mr Guy.

Next and also this Saturday at super Club Colosseum in Vauxhall, is the return of Matinee, which having taken a well earned break at the last Bank Holiday weekend, comes roaring back with an Ibiza special, heralding Matinee launching its summer season with a new residency at Amnesia on the “golden isle” from next weekend. Expect all the usual ingredients that make Matinee London magic, stunning production, delicious dancers, courtesy of Mark M Forms & Nik Ripley’s Fierce International crew, and one of the best D.J. line up’s in the capital, including Pagano, Paul Heron, Pier Morrocco, Brent Nicholls & Alessandro, joined by Matinee megastar D.J. & Producer Taito Tikaro. Add to that D.J. Devlish, who will be celebrating his birthday (another one!) & this is one party you won’t want to miss. Doors open at 11 p.m and the club runs through until 9 a.m., with advance £13 tickets available at http://evolvedevents.co.uk/ (where you can get more details of this event), at all your favourite Soho outlets & more available on the door.

Our final choice, being yet another return, is bpm, which is the official Matinee after party on Sunday (14th June) from 6 a.m. until v late (we expect into the afternoon!) in the club space at Barcode Vauxhall. Sounds will be from the D.J. line up of Lee Yeomans, Max Sanna & Alessandro plus some exciting guest spots (rumour has it that birthday boy Guy Williams will be making an appearance – how can you say no now?!), with funky tech house being the name of the game, along with style & seductiveness. As the capacity is very limited, entrance is exclusive to online ticket holders and clubbers with Matinee invites, to keep it intimate & sexy. So to avoid disappointment, go to http://evolvedevents.co.uk/ for the exclusive entrance fee of £5 (inclusive of a free shot) but you can also get joint Matinee & bpm tickets for £19.

Other top tips this weekend include Lo-Profile on Friday with the mega combo of Mikey D & Steve Pitron (not to be missed), Barcode Soho on Saturday (the ideal warm up to Matinee) with Brent Nicholls (feel the Rhythm!!) on the decks & for those bpm dissapointed’s there is always Beyond on Sunday morning. Check the popular press for full details.

Don’t forget you can always go to http://seenqueen.com/ THE clubbing website, which has a full listing of all the gAylist events, not just this weekend but for the whole of June & you can catch this post via Disco Matt's group on Facebook.

As for us, well our weekend never normally starts without a visit to Industri at Barcode Vauxhall tomorrow (Thurs 11th) with Minty in charge & Brent Nicholls spinning the tunes, then we suspect Lo-Profile on Fri, Matinee on Sat & bpm on Sun. So if you see us out, come say hi & as we always say….Go There! Be There!

Weekend Recommendations - 4th June 2009

Hey Folks,

Well, as we move into June, things should be hotting up on the scene, although it seems much of the attention is currently away from our shores, with a selection of parties in Paris, Cologne, Antwerp & of course Ibiza, which is holding a succession of launch parties to its frenetic summer season.

So, what’s on offer in gAylist/land London this weekend, well two of our faves re-appear & it seems that bar culture is the name of the game.

First up is the macho, muscular Megawoof which returns to Club Colosseum just two weeks after its Bank Holiday special, although with little other activity, should ensure a tight testosterone filled main room of outrageous action. Expect all the usual ingredients that make this men only outing extra special, with music across two rooms of dance with regular resident D.J’s. Italian Stallion Pagano takes centre stage in the main room to stir up the crowd with his pulsating progressive tech house tunes & don’t forget the darkroom area for the more adventurous in you. Door open at 10.30 p.m. & the club runs through until 6 a.m., with entry just £10 for members & £14 for guests. Advance tickets are available at the usual outlets & at http://megawoof.com/ where you can find more info on the club, membership, etc.

Next up is the deliciously decadent “The Secret Society” which returns for another of its sumptuously seductive monthly outings at the opulent No5 club on Cavendish Square. Think partying in Georgian times with luxury & lust being the name of the game here. And with scene stalwart Mark Bambach on the decks expect superb sounds of musical mastery to match the surroundings. It’s the classic Sunday T-dance timing of 5 p.m. until 2 a.m. and with entry just £10, it’s a wonderful way to end your weekend. For more info and if you fancy booking a table (very gAylist!!) go to http://thesecretsociety.live.co.uk/ & to take a sneak preview of the venue, check it out at http://no5ltd.com/

Finally, it looks like our fave dance bars will be the places to be this weekend, our highlights being Lo-Profile, which really hits the mark & where all the hot boys are, with a stunning line up of Gonzalo & Paul Heron filling your Friday, Gary H & Brent Nicholls taking the venue by storm on Saturday. Details can be found at http://gayprofile.com/ & with entry at just £5, you can’t go wrong. Barcode continues to serve up a superb selection of top notch D.J’s in both its Soho & Vauxhall venues, our highlights this weekend being Brent Nicholls in Soho on Saturday and then Nick Tcherniak in Vauxhall taking the last set also on Saturday (this combo never fails to lead us astray!!). And to tempt you in (not that we need an excuse) there are some amazing drinks offers right across the month of June. Go to http://bar-code.co.uk/ for details of these & the full D.J. listing for this weekend.

Well, that’s our choices up, so whatever you get up to have a good one. It looks like, after a traumatic last Saturday out on the scene, we will be taking a well earned break, but if Messrs Nicholls & Tcherniak get their way, we may yet succumb!!

Weekend Recommendations - 29th May 2009

Hey Folks,

Well, if like us, you are still in recovery mode after yet another hectic Bank Holiday, then you may be forgiven for wanting to rest easy this weekend, although as they say, there is no rest for the wicked two of our top tip choices definitely evoke this.

First up and for the rougher, tougher, raunchier & sexier in you, London fetish club extraordinaire, Hard On! returns for another monthly outing at Hidden club in Vauxhall this Saturday (30th May) & on the back of a fabulously successful room at the party of the month, Hustlaball, rolling out all the usual servings of horny happenings with scantly clad hot go-go’s, plenty of cruising & action in the playroom and downright dirty sounds across two rooms, the dream devilish team of Brent Nicholls & Hi-Fi Sean in the red room, with Hugos’land, David Judge & Halo-is in the “blue” cruise room. And if that wasn’t enough, there is a free CD giveaway for the first 200 customers through the door. Remember, the dress code is strict, leather, rubber, military or skin gear or (if you dare) just your boots!, definitely no jeans or trainers guys. Hard On! runs from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. with entrance being £15 and it is a members only club, so if not already a member, get your applications at RoB, Fettered Pleasures, Expectations or DV8, or by going online at http://hardonclub.co.uk where you can get more details of this hardcore happening.

For the mainstream of you, mega club Salvation rolls out the red carpet on Saturday (30th May), yes a Saturday we here you say!! In a change to the usual early/mid Sunday timing, we think this is going to be a sure fire hit and with all the ingredients you come to expect from Salvation, a classy crowd, spectacular showings, including residents Gonzalo, Sharon “O” Love & Mis-White (after her sparkling set at Famous), joined by new boy Alessandro, spinning the tunes, delectable dancers & stage shows, with the centre piece being the appearance by Kelly Rowland (you know, of Destiny’s Child fame) who will provide a special P.A. performance & no doubt will work the crowd with her massive dance track “work” which hit the charts last year & has had the remixing treatment by none other than The Freemasons as well as Steve Pitron & Max Sanna, as well as delivering her latest track “When Love Takes You Over”, so we suspect that she will definitely take over Troxy, being more than just foxy. Salvation’s doors open at 9 p.m. and the club, at Troxy in Limehouse, runs through until 5 a.m. Tickets are £15 in advance, available at the usual Soho outlets, with a strictly limited amount on the door. For the VIP in you, tickets are £20 with an exclusive pre-party at the club kicking off at 8 p.m. For me details of this must visit event, go to http://salvation-london.com

Other highlights of the weekend are Beyond at Area on Sunday morning from 6 a.m., the ideal afterparty to Salvation, where Hard On!’s hedonists will also make a showing and then L.A. at The Apprentice, 333 Old Street on Sunday night. For details of these, check the popular press. Also don’t forget the return of Gay City Rollers on Wednesday 3rd of June, more details of this event coming up.

So, two reasons to tear yourselves away from the telly on Saturday night and we will definitely being doing just that with a trip to Troxy, so if you see us out, come say hi and as we always say….Go There! Be There!

Weekend Recommendations -

Hey Folks,

Well, with yet another Bank Holiday upon us, we thought we would give you plenty of time to plan yours, making the most of the last long break before the end of August.

It looks like this time, the usual club overload is not quite as prevalent, but there is still plenty of choice in amongst some new offerings. So these are our tip top choices for the weekend.

This Friday (May 22nd) sees the return of Recreation, following a superb launch & then follow up party. This club seems to be carving a real niche for itself and D.J. turned club promoter Lee Yeomans’ hard work seems to be paying off & we couldn’t be more thrilled for him. Deciding on a “Friday Special” looks like a great move, with proceedings kicking off at The Apothecary from 11 p.m. with free entry up to around midnight then £6 thereafter, regular Max Sanna & the man himself will be joined by birthday boy David Berger (of Wacked! Fame) and its all hosted by the fabtastic Tamsin. So if Techno is your bag, get yourselves down to Kings Cross & go to http://tinyurl.com/recfriday for more details.

Saturday (May 23rd) sees the launch of new club Guru Guru, masterminded by the dynamic duo of D.J. legend Tom Stephan & promoter legend Wayne Shires. Promising to bring back uber underground style queer-core clubbing in (what we have been told) is an amazing warehouse venue that will take your breath away. And with music supplied by Tom, joined by Jim Stanton (Horse Meat Disco), Cormac (Wet Yourself) and Miguel Pelliterro (DTPM) together with incredible visuals supplied by Prick Images, spiritual healers, fortune tellers & makeover magicians & you can see that this is going to be a club with a real difference. It all starts at Bash Studios in Scrutton St from 10 p.m. with £10 advance tickets available from http://moreonthedoor.com and £12 entry o the night.

Sunday (May 24th) sees another return, this time the stylish & swish Lovechild at Pacha in Victoria, brought to you by Alex Erfan & his team with a theme of “Red Hot n Sexy” which should herald the heights of opulence & sexual decadence (yum yum) with seductive shows from Chris Geary’s troupe of dancers including the fabulous Cleo & with sexy & sordid sounds by residents, Mattias, Tony English, Per Q.X. Stewart Who? & Brent Nicholls, joined by D.J. Eros who flies in from Madrid especially for the event. It’s a T-dance style club, kicking off at 6 p.m. & running through till 1 a.m. and advance £10 tickets are available at http://clubtickets.com
Or at the usual Soho outlets with V.I.P. packages available too (which includes champagne, table treats & an exclusive space – you know where we are going to be!). For more details go to http://alexerfan.com & click on the Lovechild event.

Monday (May 25th – phew we got it right!) sees the second instalment of the Reverse parties, this time “Sunset” and held at the lofty venue, Century in Shaftesbury Avenue, a select & stylish (the word of the weekend!) venue with the special space having a capacity of 200, so its going to have a special atmosphere with the feel of alfresconess to add to the delight, although we can say no more at the mo but be sure to be able to see the sunset, just as long as it shines! The D.J. line up is just as stylish as promoter Guy Williams is joined on the decks by super Severino as well as Pete Herbert & Serge Santiago which will guarantee the best end to your Bank Holiday weekend. It all kicks off at 2 p.m. and goes through the sunset & beyond until (we are told) 1 a.m. (wow!!) Advance £8 early bird, then £12 tickets are available at http://ticketweb.com (advised) with £15 entry available on the door (risky) so we recommend buying in advance to avoid disappointment.

Other events on offer include SuperMartXe “Peep Show” on Sat 23rd May at The Coronet in Elephant & Castle with the inclusion of Nick Tcherniak in the D.J. line up, newbie, Futureproof at Thorpe Park on Sun 24th May an all-day event including an exclusive dance space & exclusive ride times with a great D.J. line up including Paul Heron, Fusion at XXL on Sun 24th with non other than the Freemasons & lastly Orange Summer of Love Pt’s 3 & 4 at Area & Fire spanning Sun & Mon, including Danny Rampling in the D.J. line up. Finally, you cannot discount Beyond at Area which will be a definite choice for many & packed no doubt. For details of these events check the popular press.

So, plenty of options for you but if you are still undecided why not go to http://seenqueen.com, the gAylist clubbing website, which has details of all the best offerings in town, not just for this weekend, but with an extensive diary right up until the end of June.

As for us, well, our weekend will start at Industri on Thurs with Minty & Paul Heron + friends, with a gym induction (whoop whoop!) on Sat morning, we will be resting easy on Fri, but then looks like a Barcode Soho warm up with Brent Nicholls, followed by SuperMartXe (controversy) on Sat, possibly Beyond or Futureproof, definitely Lovechild on Sun & then maybe Orange Pt3 at Area, absolutely polished off by Reverse Sunset on Mon, then the Betty Ford Clinic on Tues!!

So enjoy you long weekend, if you see us come say hi and as we always say……....Go There! Be There!
